As Vietnam steadily affirms its role as a logistics hub in Southeast Asia, the domestic logistics industry faces an urgent need for digital transformation and green development. These are not only global trends but also critical factors that help logistics enterprises enhance their competitiveness and integrate more deeply into international supply chains.
Digital Transformation – A Catalyst for Logistics Competitiveness
According to Mr. Trần Thanh Hải, Deputy Director of the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), digital transformation is the “key” for Vietnamese logistics enterprises to optimize operations, reduce costs, and accelerate market expansion. With export orders projected to grow by 15–20% in 2025, now is the golden time to expedite the digitalization of logistics systems.
The application of digital technologies helps businesses shorten order processing times, improve operational efficiency, and create a clear competitive edge. For small and medium-sized enterprises in particular, digital transformation offers practical solutions to optimize resources, improve service quality, and proactively engage in global trade.
Green Logistics – A Mandatory Trend for Global Integration
Alongside digitalization, green logistics has become an essential standard. Mr. Trần Thanh Hải warns that companies without green certifications may be excluded from global supply chains, as international partners increasingly prioritize environmental sustainability.
Green logistics encompasses solutions such as reducing CO₂ emissions, using clean fuels, optimizing supply chains, and adopting environmentally friendly technologies. These changes not only help businesses comply with commitments in next-generation trade agreements but also contribute to building a responsible and sustainable brand image.

Long-Term Strategic Support from Authorities
The Ministry of Industry and Trade is currently developing a Strategy for the Development of Vietnam’s Logistics Services to 2030, with a vision to 2050. This strategy aims to foster a modern, efficient, and high value-added logistics sector, enabling businesses to transform their models, invest in technology, and integrate more deeply into the global market.
Mr. Đào Trọng Khoa, Chairman of the Vietnam Logistics Business Association (VLA), emphasized:
“Green logistics is a global trend. Vietnam must build a smart and sustainable logistics ecosystem to maintain its position as an ideal destination for regional supply chains.”
